I am a passionate mental health campaigner. I have lived experience of mental illness, such as OCD, and use this to campaign for positive change. This includes working for national mental health charities, such as MIND and YoungMinds.I have extensive personal experience of mental health. Having suffered from OCD and anxiety since I was an early teen. I am now looking to use this experience to advocate for positive change around mental health in society, reducing the stigma and encouraging the government to implement effective new policy.I asm a young campaigner for YoungMinds. This includes working with a diverse group of other young people advocating positive change for young people. Part of this role involves participating in focus groups, including reviews of YoungMind’s website. As part of my role I have worked with national brands, such as reviewing M&S’ labelling of children’s clothing. I have also represented YoungMinds externally. I have been an key part in the EndTheWait campaign. From talking to MPs in parliament, to writing and delivering a letter to Downing Street, I have been involved in all key stages. Furthermore, I represent YoungMinds in the media. Most notably, I was interviewed in 2023 by Susanna Reid for an ITV tonight documentary, talking about my lived experience, and interviewed for BBC new at Six in 2024 following the Resolution Foundation report into Mental Health and work.At Mind, I regularly attend focus groups and web reviews. Notably, I collaborated with Anna Freud on pioneering programs aimed at enhancing mental health support within educational settings. I have also been part of a group looking into the effects of sports coaching and young people. This involved creating resources for schools and sports clubs to use, and being interviewed for a webinar attended by senior Sports England officials.Beyond my mental health work, I also volunteer with other charities. I have volunteered for the British Legion for 8 years. Whether selling poppies on the streets, managing poppy appeal stalls, or actively participating in the Poppy Appeal sub-committee, I remain committed to honouring and supporting veterans and their families.For my full time job, I am a trainee management accountant at Polaris Community. In this role, I have a unique perspective, enabling me to learn more about accountancy and finance in a Childcare setting. I also work for Dodford children’s farm, which includes engaging with SEN children.I am looking to get more into keynote speaking and sharing my mental health experience for good.
