He was closely involved in changing engineering practices and personnel management associated with privatisation with the focus intensifying on availability, efficiency and cost control. He was also instrumental in the development and implementation of a computerised maintenance management computer system which was sold worldwide as a commercial product by the developer. He played key roles in the buy-out of the high priced long term generation contracts, the construction and subsequent operation of Ireland’s largest combined cycle gas turbine power station and the offering of generation capacity into Northern Ireland’s fledgling competitive market.Paddy also worked closely with BG Group, reviewing and implementing its strategy for the island of Ireland, including changes to other NI based BG Group companies.
