About Padraig Gleeson

I carry out research into and develop tools to facilitate the creation, analysis and sharing of complex models of neuronal systems. I am one of the main developers of NeuroML, a language for specifying models of neurons and networks, and am leading the creation of the Open Source Brain repository, where neuroscientists can collaboratively develop and exchange models of neuronal networks, towards a greater understanding of their behaviour in healthy and diseased states.I am also Project Director the OpenWorm project, which is aiming to develop the most advanced computational model of a living organism, the worm C. elegans.I am the co-founder of the Model Exchange and Convergence Initiative (ModECI), which is seeking to unify how models are created and shared across the neuroscience, machine learning and artificial intelligence fields. I have recently been awarded a 5 year Fellowship by the EPSRC to pursue this work.
