I work on software projects for myself and on contract. Recent projects include:- Zenpost.com --The application is a marketplace for businesses to help automate content marketing. The app included features for connecting businesses with writers, authoring content, editing, and scheduling content all from inside the app. It had a full subscription system with payments integration. I built it on contract for a local startup.- Presto.media -- This is a SaaS application allowing publishers to manage a team of freelance writers, assign articles to them, manage the article creation process, and pay the writers. I built it on contract for a local startup.- Stallion.io -- a blazing fast, rock solid, CMS for techies. It is an open-source CMS designed from the ground up for performance, stability, and customization. This is my own project for fun, and it is still under development.Grokky -- this was a web application which helped managers run efficient 1:1's. This was my own startup that I created with a partner.

I joined HubSpot as the first full-time employee and was tasked with building the initial product. Our goal was to build an all-in-one marketing platform that bundled everything from website management to lead nurturing to social media monitoring all in one easy to use package. The product was a web based, software-as-a-service product. That meant that as an engineer I needed to design and maintain a system that served over ten-thousand customers, 24/7.During my time at HubSpot, my duties included writings lots of code, talking to customers, designing features, refactoring components, scaling servers, tuning databases, interviewing candidates, mentoring new hires, and leading large project teams. I joined HubSpot pre-product. By the time I decided to move on, we had 10,000+ customers, employed 670 people, and were filing for an IPO that eventually valued the company at over a billion dollars.Key projects and accomplishments include:- Single-handedly writing the first versions of our web site builder/content management system. The CMS allowed small business owners and marketers to host a web site, edit pages, and build forms, all via an easy drag and drop interface.- Co-leading a team to rebuild our analytics platform using Python, Java, and Hadoop, all running on AWS/Amazon web services. The project allowed us to scale to ten times as many customers and page views. We also rebuilt the user interface and created a brand new analytics traffic sources dashboard that our customers and sales team raved about.- Leading engineering for a 10+ person team that built a second generation "content optimization system". In addition to standard features, we included A/B testing and targeting of content based on visitor persona. We included a powerful templating language for technical users, and an easy to use interface for the marketing user. - Maintaining uptime and reliability for the blogs, web pages, and web sites for over 10,000+ customers.

Designed and built an online database application that was like Microsoft Access for the web. Developed the project from initial design to a publicly released application with paying customers. The application and myself were acquired by HubSpot.
