Served as a clinician for a jail-based competency treatment that provided in-house treatment for inmates who were incompetent to stand trial. Inmates were all on a waitlist to get into the state hospital where they could be stabilized enough to return to fulfill their right to a speedy trial. The revolutionary pilot program led the way as an example for the rest of the country to copy and dramatically reduced the size of the waitlist that the inmates were on. This ultimately leads to a massive reduction in delays in the inmate’s ability to advocate for themselves in court. I worked closely with deputies and the nursing units. I led groups and individual treatment.
