My overall goal is to develop appropriate mathematical models to better understand the architecture of complex traits and guide medical decision based on data and algorithms. The approach combines the use of large cohorts of well-characterized patients and members of their families, integrated databases of clinical/demographic and genetic data with a special focus on Immunogenetics and imaging. In the past, I have been using HLA genetic data as a model of information determining the individual outcome and the organization of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The combination of information technology and statistical integration of multiple data sources will deliver evidence based decision making, provide personalized information and facilitate biological interpretation of well-designed functional experiments: a 360 degree view of complex disease and health.

My teaching activities consist of informal teaching to postdoctoral fellows, non-faculty academics and trainees in the laboratory. I often use previous lectures given in Genetics, Epidemiology and Biostatistics

I have worked as a Senior Resident/Registrar for 2 years in the Epidemiology unit; this position does not require an MD degree, and aims at supporting clinical research in the hospital. This includes Biostatistical consulting: Choosing statistical methods; Multivariable modeling; other statistical analyses; Interpreting results; Responding to reviews; Sample size planning; other biostatistical issues. I was specifically in charge of -omics methodologies in close relations with the Bioinformatics core facilities. This service hosted by investigator and supported with hourly recharges, also includes dealing with data management issues, study design and implementation: Data cleaning and formatting; General data management advice; Choosing database platform/vendor; Querying existing database; Custom system development,; Other data management issues; Choosing type of study (case-control, cohort, trial, etc); Sampling strategy, selection of controls; Design of survey instruments; Identification of existing databases; Measurement, quality control; Randomization and blinding schemes; Recruitment, retention, and logistical issues; Multicenter study coordination; Budgeting; Data and Safety Monitoring; Qualitative data collection; Qualitative data management.
