I have always been deeply involved in the aid of others ever since elementary schools by tutoring or staying after school to help my teachers grade papers. This also continued until high school, where I was able to join a program that helped me connect with young minority children in my school district. In this program, I had the chance to guide elementary school students get the most out of their experiences as a minority and help them overcome personal, emotional, and educational problems. During high school, I was also a part of the Doctors Academy Program, which provided support to low-income and children who come from a minority background, with access to health education and networking skills to build a medical career path. Within this time frame, I wrote many research papers about topics such as health disparities, breast cancer, and cultural influences. Along with the research papers, I also volunteered at the Veterans Hospital and shadowed a plastic surgeon during surgeries, consultations, and clinic procedures. Currently at UC Davis, I am interning as a patient advocate at Paul Hom Asian Clinic, which aims to serve local Asian communities around the Sacramento area. Furthermore, I am also the outreach committee director, where I oversee intern's activities, logistics, intern and patient recruitment, and networking possibilities for our clinic.
