Mechanical Engineering Associate on the MacCready Works team at AeroVironment working on the Sample Recovery Helicopter.- Fabricated and performed drop test procedures with the Sample Recovery Helicopter (SRH) in partnership with JPL for the Mars Sample Return mission. - Collected and analyzed over five hundred drops, gathering data that informed design based on loads and stability of SRH when landing.- Prototyped and implemented design changes to the drop testing rig, allowing drops to be done in specific configurations that closely resemble landing on Mars terrain.- Designed 3D-printable wheels for the model that maintained stiffness properties given by JPL. Performed SolidWorks FEA on wheels to match deflection to JPL requirements.- Designed and modified components of SRH, performing FEA on the components to ensure strength and stiffness values were met.- Designed and fabricated rigs to evaluate bending and torsional stresses in a thermal chamber of composite leg tubes being used on SRH.

• Responsible for training and assisting both engineering students and faculty in a fully operational machine shop (E-Space) and Laser Cut/3D Print Lab including mills, lathes, 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC router, drill press, band saw, orbital sander, belt sander, table saw, miter saw, and powered hand tools.• Mentored students on engineering design, coding, and construction of engineering projects. Responsible for performing safety checks on all equipment and heavy machinery and file status reports.• Took inventory and processed purchase orders for E-Space supplies.
