My varied range of clinical experience allows me to provide excellent care to patients of all ages, with both acute and chronic conditions. I began my healthcare career as a Certified Nurse Aid at Southwoods Surgical Hospital in 2018; working with patients during some of the most harrowing experiences in their lives was a privilege for me. I enjoyed working alongside an amazing team of doctors and nurses to provide patient-centered care, and began learning about the role of a nurse; to think critically, act quickly, and to always communicate with the patient and other members of the care team.After graduating college in 2021 and earning my BSN from The Ohio State University, I was eager to begin my career at ProMedica Toledo Hospital as an RN in their Cardiac Post-Surgical Unit. I got to care for patients who underwent coronary artery bypass surgery, valve replacements, stent placements, and ICD placements. I became very comfortable with chest tubes, surgical drains, PCA pumps, cardiac medication drips, giving blood transfusions, monitoring and interpreting EKGs, and collaborating with various doctors in order to obtain the best outcome for my patients. I loved the fast-paced nature of the unit, and the complexity of the patients I cared for. I took a break from the bedside and decided to switch gears, moving my career into the school health setting. Here I found my passion for working with children, and learned the importance of education and prevention to help students thrive. In this role, I am learning to manage chronic conditions such as Asthma, Type 1 Diabetes, Kidney Disease, Seizure disorders, and behavior disorders. I have a lot of experience giving injections, treating hypo and hyperglycemia, providing first aid quickly to students, and calling EMS when appropriate. I also earned my vision screening certification, and began screening children for hearing and vision problems. I love the primary setting and having the opportunity to help patients before their illness develops, and giving them the tools they need to make healthy choices to keep them out of the hospital as adults! With over 6 years of experience in healthcare, I have gained the confidence and skills to care for patients in any setting. I love to learn, and with healthcare constantly evolving, I am eager to keep up with best practice and developments in medicine; but, with every job I have ever had, genuinely caring about my patients was always at the heart of my practice.
