Consciousness and the world in oil paintLandscapes and architecture of New York, Chicago, County Mayo, Ireland, Lofoton, Norway, and Milford Sound, New Zealand, serve as recent subjects for my work. Physical transformations of natural substances and minerals, into pigments, effects my vision that crosses boundaries of abstraction and representation, bringing both styles together seamlessly. No need to create distinct styles of painting that must be defined as one or the other. It is the paint, not the style, that expresses a perfect synergy with my thoughts. Mine is a vision expressed with stone and water. Tom Irizarry is a man who does not compromise in any avenue of life and especially in making paintings. My work, like myself, stands firm on it's own singular ground. Whether a dramatic skyscape or a sublime building, all works are made from the same artist-made natural chemical materials. In Clinton Hill, Brooklyn for 44 years making art. A graduate of Pratt Institute, MFA in painting, 1985. Self taught in use of oil paint. Studied sculpture under Alexander Giampietro, Catholic University of America, BA, 1981. Worked and exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and have been a member of The Salmagundi Club and currently a vetted seller on 1stDibs.com.
