Technical lead, PPT Copilot project: PPT Copilot brings the power of generative AI to PPT. I lead a team of 6 software engineers to develop the Copilot workflow to create a presentation from a user-provided topic. I designed a scalable architecture that integrates ChatGPT into the PPT backend to create a partial or full presentation based on conversation with a user. I worked with eng and product stakeholders across several teams to align on priorities and timeline, and overcome the many challenges of integrating an LLM in a complex product such as PPT. Over a period of 7 months, I led the team from ideation to proof of concept to production for the new architecture. User feedback shows a marked increase in satisfaction with the generated content.Technical lead, PPT Live: Led a cross-team squad of ten engineers to improve the multi-service pipeline that streams the interactive presentation to attendees. My team developed two new services under a tight deadline to enable on-the-fly optimizations, localized caching and adaptive bitrate streaming for media content (currently serves 10+TB each day). I coached my team to pursue a telemetry-driven development approach, which improved session “happiness” from 87% to 98%.Technical lead, PPT Online: Prototyped a new micro-service architecture to improve text-editing experience, and led a team of six engineers to ship the full-stack, multi-team project to production. I managed to meet a high bar for production quality (99.9% accuracy) through sound design, metric-driven development and extensive testing.

Technical lead, PPT Designer project: I shipped the first personalized ML model that continuously learns user-specific behavior, and proactively adapts the behavior of the PPT Design recommender assistant to best suit the user’s needs. Led the model design in coordination with the ML team, and performed model integration, secure anonymized data collection and storage, telemetry analysis, A/B experiments, flighting and production support.
