I just received an 18-month fellowship at CCC, part of the Warner School of Natural Resources at Colorado State University at Fort Collins. I will be working on a Payment for Ecosystem Services pilot project in San Miguel County.

San Miguel County is a small rural county on the Western Slope of Colorado, running from the slickrock and high mesas of the Colorado Plateau in the west to the San Juan Range of the Southern Rockies in the east. Telluride is the county seat.

Founded on the principles developed by Dolores LaChapelle at her Way of the Mountain Center in Silverton, Colorado, Talking Gourds is an annual earth festival of performance poetry held in Telluride, as well as a practice of Talking Gourd circles associated with a number of gatherings in Western Colorado and Northern New Mexico.
for the last 26 years I've worked for local papers in various capacities: reporter/associate editor/columnist for the Telluride Times; managing editor and columnist for the San Miguel Journal and the Telluride Mountain Journal, art editor and columnist for the Telluride Times-Journal; and columnist for the Daily Planet, the Telluride Watch, the Norwood Post and the Norwood Watch.
Having started as a cub reporter, I worked my way up to assitant editor at the Telluride Times. Then I served as managing editor of the San Miguel Journal, city editor of the Telluride Mountain Journal, and arts editor of the Telluride Times-Journal. Throughout those years I wrote several columns, one on history known as Mining the Gold, one personal opinion known as Pandora's Box, and most consistently and into the present a person opinion column known as Up Bear Creek.
I served as director of the Telluride Council for the Arts & Humanities from 1980-81 and from 1995-97
