The ARC is a world leading research centre attached Melbourne Graduate School of Education (the highest ranking school in Australia) which specialises in the analysis of teaching methods and assessment practices. It works with many OECD countries, using a data driven approach to improve education outcomes.• Work to date:◦ Developed five new online assessment games that record and analyse student performance on a central server. Games are multiplayer and gracefully utilises multiple network communication strategies in order to work robustly in a variety of network environments, particularly important in developing countries.◦ Implemented a new software development process and platform that achieved the following:▪ Halved production time.▪ Reduced developer errors.▪ Introduced automated support for multiple platforms (mobile, tablet, PC).▪ Designed new cloud architecture (AWS based) to provide better support and management of task hosting, data and analysis.▪ Improved ease of localisation.▪ Allowed teaching and research staff to implement content and flow changes without requiring programming staff.Currently exploring possibility of adding assessment tracking to commercial games, working in conjunction with Valve Corp, owners of steam platform.

• Co designed and created a system for automatically analysing the worlds patent databases in real time, and determining the most relevant results based upon the users needs.• Presents the results in an initiative interactive network graph that allows for quick guided exploration of results. (www.amberscope.com) Proved ideal for prior art searching, and identifying licence opportunities.• Created second product allows bulk searches of patent portfolios and is proving popular amongst large companies and government organisations.
