My journey has been profoundly influenced by my role as a long-time caregiver for my aging parents, navigating the complexities of caregiving often without a safety net. This experience led me to discover my true purpose: to dive headfirst into the aging space with an insatiable curiosity and a commitment to improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers.As the creator of Dementia Live® and Founder of AGE-u-cate™ Training Institute, I recognized an urgent need to revolutionize dementia training. Drawing from my extensive experience working alongside thousands of care partners and numerous organizations, I envisioned a transformative approach. Over the past nine years, my initiatives have touched the lives of over 2.3 million individuals, equipping them with the empathy, compassion, and skills needed to be effective care partners.Leadership, to me, is a blend of creativity, adaptability, and unwavering integrity. It’s about making the right decisions for the right reasons and continuously learning from those around you—especially those you serve. I am privileged to lead an extraordinary team at AGE-u-cate™, where we share a collective mission to drive positive change through exceptional training and education.In the rapidly evolving aging landscape, it’s imperative that we address the growing needs of our aging population through collaboration and innovative practices. The ripple effects of dementia are far-reaching, impacting healthcare systems, public health, support services, and, critically, family wellness. As the Board President of Dementia Friendly Fort Worth, I am proud to be part of an initiative born from faith and vision, now expanding to meet the needs of our aging community. Our focus is on supporting individuals facing cognitive decline, who often encounter stigma and neglect.I welcome the opportunity to connect and engage in meaningful conversations about how we can collectively make a difference in the lives of those touched by the challenges of aging, particularly those living with dementia.
