At the beginning of my career, I interned for a small company in their marketing department. As the eager intern, I willing to do whatever task was thrown my way to stay busy, show my worth and gain experience. In order to develop deeper relationships with key customers and partners, the company decided to host an educational conference. The task of organizing this conference was put on the marketing manager’s shoulders so he sought out help from his team. I enthusiastically volunteered to gain more skills. What I didn’t realize at the time was this was a pivotal moment in my career. With his guidance, we successfully put on a great conference and I sat in his office after it was all said and done and told him “I think I’ve found my calling! Let’s do more events!” Organizing the logistics, timelines, spreadsheets, interacting with people and all the little details that went into the planning made my job fun and exciting. From then on out, I sought out all projects that helped me further develop my organizational skills. Since then, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge in customer service, versatility, effective communication, strategic planning, and organization while always seeking further knowledge.
