I do a variety of duties at Joslin Diabetes Center. I work in a fast-paced office and my job includes rooming and discharging patients, checking blood sugars, taking vital signs, checking current medications and retrieving lab results either electronically or phoning the lab directly. Some other duties are answering phones and directing call to proper location, scheduling and canceling appointments, preparing charts for next business day, calibrating various machines and phoning in prescriptions to pharmacies.

Duties include fining and polishing lenses after the curve was applied to the lens. I also ran a generator applying the curve to the blank.

My duties at Sycamore were venipuncture blood draws. At times these included blood cultures and finger-sticks. I was also responsible for separting tubes of blood after drawing, loading the centrifuge and taking tubes to the correct departments. A list needed printed hourly to check for STAT orders and making sure these were done in a timely manner.
