I am a seasoned white collar and regulatory defense litigator and investigator and have had the rare honor of being appointed three times by the U.S. government to serve as an independent FCPA monitor and consultant. At the core of most of my work is a focus on "the money trail." Be that concerns related to financial fraud, anti-corruption issues, antitrust violations, mail and wire fraud, healthcare fraud, securities and export violations, trade secret theft or AML, OSHA or FDA violations. In recent years, I have led more than 150 investigations for multinational organizations throughout Asia, South America, Central America, Europe, South Africa, and North America. Unlike many investigators, my work doesn't stop once the investigation ends. A significant portion of my practice focuses on compliance, including understanding the root causes of the violations and revising, or developing, programs and controls to more fully protect against future risks, conducting global reviews of existing compliance plans, performing global risk assessments, developing compliance structures, and conducting due diligence associated with M&A work. I am frequently asked to assist companies seeking to ensure alignment with the current heightened anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, and anti-financial fraud environment. Of course, not every issue can be resolved outside the courtroom. In the event my client's concerns go beyond an internal investigation or compliance issue, I am ready to defend their interests in litigation, including at trial.
