Joining a team with a 40 year history of educating and supporting small farms/farmers, the land, and stopping factory farms and bad environmental practices in the state of Minnesota. I have been invested in this organization since I took their Farm Beginnings class in 2013 and I am so pleased to be able to farm my own land AND do meaningful policy work.

Sustainable Fairfax supports the philosophy that we must attend to the needs of the present without sacrificing the ability of future generations and the natural world to provide for their own needs. We are a nonprofit educational organization providing the infrastructure for all age groups in our community to work together to regenerate and preserve the social, economic and environmental well-being of Fairfax and its’ sphere of influence. • Served as first Executive Director for the organization putting all organizing and financial systems in place• Created the organizational structure to minimize paid staff and maximize volunteer efforts• Fundraised between $30K-$70K each year to support rent at Center, staff, and projects• Opened the Sustainability Center with a Permaculture Garden• Grew the organization from 2 to 50 volunteers with a Volunteer Training program and multiple interns • Developed and implemented our Community Education series using via film fests, lectures and handson classes to cover a broad range of topics• Provided outreach via bi-weekly e-newsletter to 1,500 people and website content• Launched special projects that include Marin Clean Energy, Fairfax’s Plastic Bag Ban, and was founder of the FairBuck local currency• Featured in Edible Marin article on Backyard Chickens, SF Chronicle for Graywater reuse and local currency, served on a task force for Marin Agricultural Education Alliance, Co-author of Grassroots Sustainability: A Guide to Growing a Thriving Community, received the 2011 Marin Peace and Justice Award for Solidarity, and was the Keynote speaker for the 2012 Northern California Transition Conference.
