I preside at worship twice a month for this fine small congregation that meets at our Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

At Prince of Peace I help to build up the faith of leaders in our rural city. I also have been actively developing children's ministries and music ministry. We have a strong ethic of working together to create change, and that is what we do, especially when it comes to working on caring for people in Forks and caring for our church plant. With the good leaders that I have here, the work is good even when hard.I do bring skills that the majority of people do not have. Those ministries I currently do myself. The skills that help large organizations to develope workable structure I utalize in my work at Seattle U and with the synod.I also try to help our congregation remain connected to the Southwestern Washington Synod, made difficult by our distance from most of the Synod. The Olympic Mountains are a big barrier between us and everyone else. Hours of travel are requried for this to happen.

I helped the congregation be free to move to a new stage in their ministry by leading them to complete several large property improvements that had been needed for several years. We completed them all. I also helped to move a volunteer youth director to a more professional status, and helped to improve the music ministries of the church. We added a Saturday service and expanded our VBS. I also helped to develop better relationships with the other churches in town, and it's food bank. I was active in the cluster and for the synod, served on the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Team and Chaired the Lutheran-Reformed Team. I pioneered the process to help the Lutherans and Reformed Churches find a way to share interim ministries in a formal agreement. I also was the coordinator of the "Reggie Year", a year of intensive calligraphic study. I also took the course. I instituted the Creativity Sunday for the first Sunday after Easter where people shared their talents with each other. One of my favorite successes was the first communion class art projects, which over the space of six years, provided the church with a set of Eucharistic paraments.

I was the pastor who helped Peace through the difficult years of redevelopment ministry. They succeeded in becoming a transformational ministry site, and continue to do important work for their neighborhood. During that same time I had the weekly communion service at the local retirement high-rise apartment, and served as one of three Upstate NY Lutheran ecumenical officers. I held this position as the national church prepared to adopt three ecumenical relationships with other denominations. I served as the structural change chair for the State Council of Churches. I spent 11 years as part of the MLK commission of Rochester. I also served on the redevelopment/new mission Team for the synod. During that time I also was art coordinator for a children's choir camp, sang in a Bach choir, developed my skills as a calligrapher, and served on the Parent-teacher team for #12 elementary school. Our church pioneered the backpacks of school supplies to local schools, bringing our idea to Walmart almost by accident...and we provided a site for a Community Supported Agriculture program, gleaning the left produce for the local Food Bank, where I was president. Rich experience. Great people!
