Over the past forty years Pam Richardson has inspired people of all ages to believe in themselves and to realise their full potential. Pam’s vision for coaching is that as a unique intervention, it is of its time. Coaching already offers and will increasingly offer valuable support to individuals around the world to tackle the challenges that living in the 21st century can present. She believes with a passion that coaching has the ability to unite people through a willingness to show respect and understanding along with enhanced communication and interpersonal skills. As a coach, Pam agrees with the philosophy of Socrates who said that ‘we all have within us the answer to any question.’ The role of the coach is to encourage and support an individual to draw out the answers and hence his or her potential. Extrapolate this onto a global scale and the results will be truly powerful.Pam inspired the first International Coaching Summit to be held in the UK in October 2002, which was attended by delegates from around the world. Coaching has rapidly become a worldwide intervention. ‘Respecting the cultural differences and celebrating the similarities’ is a motto that Pam uses to explore an understanding of what constitutes best practice in the pursuit of excellence. To this end Pam also initiated annual lectures that were held at the Royal Society of Medicine in London where International speakers were welcomed to share with the UK coaching community their philosophy and understanding of coaching. She also stimulated the realisation of an International Journal of Evidence Based Coaching and Mentoring, which is published bi-annually by the University of Oxford Brookes Press.As a highly respected coach as well as an acknowledged international speaker, trainer and businesswoman, Pam was commissioned in 2003 by Hamlyn Publishers to produce the book on Life Coaching that would give people a genuine understanding of non-directive coaching and that would assist them to realise their full potential. ‘Life Coach – Become the person you truly are” is now republished in 2018. In 2011, Pam was commisioned to write and deliver the Military to Mentor programme, a Government initiative. Subsequently, she has written further books:‘Mentoring in Schools – The way to SUCCEED’‘Coaching for Parents – Supporting young people to SUCCEED’.‘7 Steps to SUCCEED -The Young Person’s Guide to Self-Coaching’ is also now available. This is highly interactive booklet for young people to use for themselves
