As a full-time elementary science teacher, I impact over 115 students each day at Challenger Intermediate School. Sharing and collaborating with other teachers is one of the most important aspects of my job, outside of educating students. The impact of collaboration can multiply the benefits and reach many more children in a positive way! Elementary STEM labs in Goddard Public Schools are designed to work in teams. Groups of 4-5 students work together measuring, building and experimenting daily. Specific lessons are taught at the beginning of the year to students on how to cooperatively learn in our labs. The collaborative work spaces give students a place to learn about diversity, communication, and team work with the focus on working through STEM projects. We work very hard to adapt curriculum, plan, and provide all students with a world class STEM opportunity and education in Goddard Public Schools.
