Currently employed with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor in the role of Director/ Donor Relations. Providing leadership to corporate development ($1M annually) including: partner plan, grants, volunteer program, events and communications. Established BGCLAH’s first marketing/media committee which secured “in-kind” billboards, radio and television public service announcements, and podcast and radio interviews. Created a Back-a-Camper summer program support campaign. Secured a grant from the Ford Motor Company’s Ford Fund to implement a Junior Youth of the Month/Year Program (JYOY). Invited by the Ford Fund to present to other Boys & Girls Clubs. Expanded responsibilities included creating an individual giving campaign branded, BACK-a-KID, assigned conversion and implementation of donor database change to e-Tapestry, worked with consultant to update 20 years of donor records as part of the database conversion. Wrote donation coding and stewardship protocol and trained staff on e-Tapestry.

Formerly employed at Dolores Mission School in Boyle Heights as the Director of Marketing and Development through funding provided by the Specialty Family Foundation, Santa Monica, CA. Wrote a strategic and comprehensive development plan. Executed the conversion of 20 years of donor data into e-Tapestry, recruited an active advancement committee, founded an alumni association, doubled the number of major donors, and strengthened relationships with current corporations and foundations. Nearly doubled annual contributions from $700K to $1.3M, increased gala attendance by 117% which resulted in 65% more income, tripled the number of donors to the annual campaign which raised giving by 82%, doubled the number of major donors within two years, assisted in the first planned gift to the school of $1.6M, created a capital needs case statement which resulted in a donor commitment of 50% of the total cost of a new building and restoration of the current (gift $2.5-4M).

As Director of Development at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute, oversaw $3M in contributions, coordinated donor stewardship reports and recognition events, and generated a variety of proposals, annual giving letters and newsletters in support of outreach, fundraising and organizational communication. Led a team of professionals including; development coordinator, grant writer, graphic designer, event planner and volunteer services.

Nine years of highly successful experience with Kent State University in positions of increasing responsibility. As Director of Advancement, Scholarship, managed a portfolio of 200 prospects at $25K level and above. Spearheaded scholarship development efforts, matching programs with donor interests and giving requirements; Position required extensive national travel to meet with potential donors including alumni. Previously, as Development Officer, played a key role in all fundraising in conjunction with the dean. As a senior staff member, ensured sustainable fiduciary practices by analyzing budgets and proposing cost-saving measures; participated in marketing plans to expand student enrollment. Contributed to long-range educational planning, including the construction of a comprehensive student center, a professional education and conference center, and a science building. Led the Capital Campaign, raising $1.2MM and establishing 20 endowed scholarships within two years. Instituted strong alumni relation protocols; established a board of directors comprised of highly dedicated community leaders. Conceived, planned and implemented a range of successful fundraising events, developing and leading volunteers to complete each project in a productive, timely and cost-effective manner. Directed the annual Professional Football Hall of Fame Balloon Classic Invitational, a national hot air balloon competition which attracted 180,000 participants .

As Development and Membership Manager at Roscoe Village Foundation, raised funds to restore buildings and curate museum exhibits as a part of educational efforts in a significant site of early American history. Initially hired as Sales Manager; marketed lodging, banquet and other tour services, significantly increasing visitors during peak seasons.

Entered the field as Senior Executive, Exploring and Marketing at Buckeye Council Boy Scouts of America. Built relationships with key corporate sponsors for a student career mentorship program which increased annual giving from $10K to $40K. Managed fiscal and programming functions for the summer Boy Scout camp. Revived marketing plan for popcorn sales as the principal revenue stream for the Council, increasing annual gross by 25%.
