The Summer Academic Research Experience (SARE) is a high school component of our Johns Hopkins Initiative for Careers in Science and Medicine. SARE seeks to develop exceptional high school students from low-income and diverse backgrounds, by introducing them to biomedical research. Through SARE, Johns Hopkins targets adolescents at a critical age in an intensive manner, allowing for substantial impact that will carry on through these students’ lives.

* Designed, implemented, and maintains a summer learning program that is goal-oriented and engaging for a targeted student population in Baltimore City that aligned with their needs for differentiation for students* Developed educational consulting program that works to ensure that student experience is engaging during the summer months and provides problem based exploration to solve real world problems. Designed* courseware aligned to national content for participation in for the National History Day Program, Science Olympiad, First LEGO League, CyberPatriot Games, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Competitions with a focus on the research process and presentation formats using a variety of tools from Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Studio, Noodletools, WeVideo, and AutoDESK.

*Provide supervision and a productive working environment for students and faculty to ensure curriculum alignment and promotes student proficiency in digital citizenship, computer programming, digital media tools, 3D design, and ethical use of technology.*Integration of LEGO and VEX robotics school wide, serve as lead coach of First LEGO League Robotics team. * Supervise and facilitate student research and responsible digital literacy school wide with collaboration and use of numerous digital tools. Collaborate with library faculty on student orientation, copyright, student support systems, and research tools such as Noodletools in order to promote student participation in research programming such as The National History Day Program and Gilder Lehrman’s Hamilton Education Program. * Consulate with and support faculty on the effective use of web based resources, technology software, multimedia technologies, and instructional strategies to develop and revise curriculum in order to provide an inclusive and engaging experience, professional development, articulation, and the dissemination of innovative practices that focuses on knowledge of learning principles to meet the needs of all stakeholders. *Coordinate professional development workshops, individual training, and coaching opportunities for faculty to maintain professional knowledge of pedagogy and emerging technology and promote the DEI standards implementation school wide while keeping a customer service orientation that allows for a dynamic and inclusive work environment.

* Design gifted and talented learning curriculum with differentiated instruction strategies in language arts, science, and computer science which supports social justice, equity and inclusion for conceptual thinking and access to content which is years ahead of chronological student age, while meeting the fine motor, kinesthetic, sensory and social skill development needs of advanced students*Establish rapport and working relationships with community member stakeholders and provide general information regarding the project to community members*Arrange for connection with community members to share with and volunteer for face-to-face, over the phone/text, and web-based conversations during which they can engage student by sharing their experiences

*Technology Instructor in Baltimore City School District with the focus on providing a 21st century computer science education and building pathways from school to jobs or higher education *Monitored student progress and taught appropriately challenging and rigorous courses in programming with JAVA and Python, 3D printing and engineering design, robotics, as well as video game design, app design, website design, and documentary film design* Interim Gifted and Talented instructor with a focus on Center for Talented Youth Curriculum. Monitor student progress and ensure that the assignments are appropriately challenging or adjust accordingly. Keep detailed records of student performance, class participation, insightful questions and comments for the regular classroom instructor upon their return. *Managed student behavior, provided timely feedback and encouragement to students on their progress, maintained detailed records of student performance and communicated with parents and school administration to resolve any course related issues
