Within the Programs and Practices division of NACo's Counties Futures Lab, I manage a portfolio of projects aimed at building healthier counties through best practice research, peer learning, education and training, and convening government and private-sector leaders. Content areas include the intersection of health, human services and justice systems; smoking cessation; and improving access to food and health services. • Oversee quality, conduct and completion of grant deliverables across multiple projects.• Manage relations with NACo members, foundation and corporate partners.• Develop publications and news articles for NACo’s media platforms. • Provide technical assistance to county officials related to project content. • Coordinate peer-to-peer exchanges among county officials for advanced learning. • Write grant proposals for new and continued funding of projects. • Design content and manage logistics for workshops, mini-forums, presentations and meetings for NACo conferences and events.

I support academic projects and scholarly activities for medical students and family medicine residents throughout the state. • Provide strategic direction/planning for medical student-family medicine resident activities. • Develop and manage program budgets, expenditures, timelines, and deliverables. • Represent CAFP at local, regional, and national events. • Participate on committees to improve programs and membership engagement. • Monitor developments in Graduate Medical Education, primary care workforce and health policy. • Oversee the selection of scholarships and provide ongoing support to recipients.• Identify fundable projects and collaborate with staff on grant writing. • Produce high-level training events with more than 300 attendees, including: negotiating contracts, managing logistics, developing content, securing speakers and crafting communication/marketing messages.

In my role at GS, I oversaw maternal-child health initiatives in 6 countries: the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa and India. This required collaborating with in-country staff to develop work plans, budgets, and project milestones. In order to monitor program activities overseas and to streamline procedures for all 12 partners and 18 projects, I initiated new systems and schedules that improved rigor and synthesized program reporting. Working with global partners and in international settings demanded a high level of multicultural competence and understanding to ensure project success. • Developed program strategies, work plans, cost estimates/budgets, and milestones. • Monitored program success by reviewing deliverables, progress towards objectives, and identifying/managing risks. • Coordinated and supervised field activities, including travel, training and remote support.• Collaborated with university researchers to implement IRB-approved research activities. • Improved reporting systems to streamline procedures across 12 partners and 18 projects.• Managed logistics for the delivery of essential medicines for rape survivors.

As a Senior Program Manager for City Year, a national non-profit providing wrap-around services to high risk students in under-resourced, low-performing schools, I supervised teams of AmeriCorps members in delivering data-driven academic interventions, behavior mentoring and attendance coaching so that students remained on-track to graduate. City Year’s unique Whole-School Whole-Child approach allowed me to work broadly within my role; from managing people, to overseeing a strategic school partnership, to creating a site-wide data collection/program monitoring tool, and engaging community members in presenting on topics of college, juvenile justice, socio-emotional learning and health.• Collaborated with the leadership team in strategic planning and programming. • Managed 40 corps members’ performance, professional development, and program compliance.• Partnered with local health organizations to promote health education and link students to free services. • Implemented City Year’s service framework: academic interventions, behavior mentoring, attendance coaching, and after-school programming for more than 1600 students. • Monitored service impact through ongoing collection, maintenance, and analysis of student-based data.• Developed data collection and evaluation tools for intervention tracking. • Facilitated trainings for more than 200 AmeriCorps Members.• Managed program budget and tracked expenses against activities.

The FL-EIS fellowship is a unique two-year, post-graduate program that provides training for health professionals interested in epidemiology. Fellows are assigned to a county health department and have opportunities to respond to various public health concerns throughout the state. • Conducted field investigations requiring rapid public health response.• Prepared daily/monthly surveillance reports and data summaries for publication, presentation, and dissemination.• Responded to public health inquiries on prevention, transmission, and disease control.• Collaborated with infection control practitioners for the identification, investigation, and control of infectious diseases.• Developed standard operating procedures for HIV surveillance unit protocols.

The Johns Hopkins Center for Clinical Trials is devoted to evaluating preventive, therapeutic, and diagnostic health interventions. The Center works nationally and globally to guide research and scholarship in evidence-based healthcare.• Oversaw the implementation of research protocols for multi-center clinical trials and observational studies.• Served as a liaison between Clinical Centers, NIDDK, pharmaceutical company sponsors, FDA, Data and Safety Monitoring Board, Biosample Repositories, and Drug Distribution Center for protocol implementation, data management, and specimen banking.• Developed and modified study documentation.• Maintained IRB applications.

• Evaluated child survival activities in 3 countries: Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania. • Researched data sources, policies, and delivery mechanisms of CHD interventions: immunizations, vitamin A supplementation, insecticide-treated bed-nets, and de-worming.• Conducted key informant interviews with UNICEF partners and stake-holders. • Compiled and analyzed quantitative and qualitative data. • Reviewed and summarized key country experiences.
