I’m a curious person with a penchant for adventure—a self-professed, unpaid people watcher, evidence gatherer, dot-connector and avid note taker—which makes me a writer. Most recently, I’ve authored two books of personal essays—which I call “messays” because life is messy. (And it’s also good.) I wrote my first book, The Little Girl Within, in my late twenties, which chronicled my life after being placed in foster care as the youngest of nine children orphaned by our parents. My new book, The Little Love That Could, as I Punched Myself in the Eye (written in 2015), is a collection of personal, non-linear, stand-alone essays. These books are about receiving an understanding in the nonsense, epiphanies in unexpected places, redemption in everyday life, meaning in the minutiae. And love. Mostly love. I’m a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, a friend, a lover of all things IMA Guatemala and most recently, grammy pammy to a superb little human with a heart-shaped smile. I love to laugh, cry when necessary, cook, eat, feed people, travel and stay home.I’m grateful.Writer at Aha!
