Be curious. Work hard. Stand out. Follow your passion. Blame it on Collagen and Alpha Hydroxy’s - my curiosity was peaked. I was an OR nurse at the time when injectable collagen entered the market. I watched it for about two years to realize it wasn’t going anywhere. I had to get my hands on it. I was fascinated by what it could do - how it could restore a more youthful appearance, and that I’d be able to deliver that result to patients. My career as an aesthetic nurse injector had started. Now fast forward 30 years.My curiosity drove me to building and growing my own medical spa practice and evolving the medical spa model. Today, I’m the founder, CEO and practicing Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist at Facial Aesthetics, an elite medical spa in Colorado with two locations. Was it a grind? Yes. Did I learn a lot? Did I ever. I engrossed myself in everything about the aesthetics industry.I took an active stance in patient care, policy development and clinician education as a medical spa owner. I created the PH Institute which fulfilled an educational demand among spa owners, students, educators and manufacturers. I partnered with Cengage Learning to create the Milady’s Aesthetician Series, a 13-book compendium dedicated to the professional growth of medical aestheticians. I’ve followed my passion. I’ve gone through the proper trainings, I’ve built a successful practice and I’ve shared my knowledge with others, but there is one thing I’m forgetting. This is where it all comes full circle. I listened to patients share their stories and skin care needs. The main one being aging. People are obsessed with slowing the process of aging. A demand existed for simple anti-aging skin care and I was determined to provide a line that met this demand. I grew as an investigator and clinical chemist.
