Gift of Life Michigan, headquartered in Ann Arbor, is the state's only federally designated organ and tissue recovery program, providing all services necessary for organ donation to occur in Michigan. We’re a non-profit organization working 24 hours a day all over the state as a liaison between donors, hospitals and transplant centers.Gift of Life was incorporated in 1971 by Michigan transplant surgeons to provide a network for sharing kidneys. Today, Gift of Life recovers more than 900 organs every year for transplantation from 300 or more donors, saving hundreds of lives. Bone, skin and other tissue also is recovered, helping to significantly improve the lives of thousands of seriously injured and sick recipients. Gift of Life also works with Eversight Michigan to manage cornea and eye donation.In addition, Gift of Life maintains and grows the Michigan Organ Donor Registry in partnership with the Michigan Secretary of State. The registry is a confidential database of state residents who have expressed their desire to someday help others by becoming an organ, eye and tissue donor.

ABCD is a study on the brains of 12,000 nine/ten year olds who are followed and retested for 10 years across the country (Ann Arbor is one of 21 sites). The goal is to develop standards for normal brain development. Results may include events that create opportunities and/or threats; affects of genetics versus environmental factors; triggers for mental disorders; exposure to substance abuse, all across a very diverse group of kids, as professionals study the growth of their brains from the ages of 9-20.

All financial donations to Gift of Life Michigan go to the Gift of Life Foundation, a non-profit membership organization composed of health care professionals and public representatives involved in organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The foundation has been designated as a 501(c)(3) charitable and tax-exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service and is treated by the IRS as a supporting foundation to Gift of Life Michigan.

Started as a teller in 1979, with rotations through mortgage and loan administration. Trained to be a credit analyst in 1985, became a small busines lender in 1987 and eventually moved into the middle market lending role managing a $120 million portfolio, including management of the corporate banking support staff.
