Pamela is currently the Chief Research and Program Officer at Brain Canada Foundation. She was formerly the research lead at MS Canada where she worked to accelerate research in MS by engaging experts in research and clinical care, in addition to other partners and stakeholders to improve the lives of people affected by multiple sclerosis. Pamela started her career as a strategy consultant in the health and life sciences supporting research and innovation, working with clients from academia, biopharmaceutical industry, government and not-for-profits in Canada and abroad. She has held several senior leadership roles at research and innovation-driven not-for-profit and charitable organizations and has experience in strategy development through to execution. She is a proven leader and draws on her over 15 years of experience in this sector to enhance organizations.At CIFAR, she convened interdisciplinary research networks to address questions of global importance, grew the visibility and reach of a new award program for early career researchers, CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars program, and initiated the development of an equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy that included a women in science leadership workshop series with global partners. Prior to this role, Pamela held senior positions at Grand Challenges Canada where she pioneered and developed the strategy for the non-communicable disease portfolio focused on mental health, working closely with global partners at WHO and NIH. She also held a position at the Ontario Centre of Innovation supporting internships/fellowships and industry-academic partnerships.Pamela received a PhD in molecular genetics from the University of Toronto and an honours BSc. in biochemistry from McMaster University where she graduated with distinction. During her PhD, she was awarded a number of prestigious awards and studentships.
