As an office assistant, I manage a lot of the paper work that is administered in the building, create packages for incoming residents to provide to the nurses and family. My duties include editing policy and procedure handbooks for various departments in the facility, schedule family conferences for residents, call references for new hires, direct families to where they need to go, distribute the mail, deal with accounts payables, and handle the petty cash for the residents. With this job, it is imperative I play close attention to detail, ensure my work is done correctly, as well as be aware of all new information that comes into the building.

It is my job to create a calendar of activities for the tenants that live in the apartments to attend. The seniors living in this building need minor care, as opposed to living in a long-term care facility. Recreation is important for these tenants, I was able to organize and conduct programs for the tenants such as movie day, Jeopardy, Bingo, crafts, baking, concerts, pizza dinners, and more. I conducted a needs assessment to see what the tenants would be interested in attending in order to create an improved calendar of events that more individuals would attend.

My duties as a banquet server include setting up the hall for the upcoming event, ensuring the tables are set properly and all instructions on the Banquet Event Order have been followed. Prior to the event starting, I set up my section of the hall for serving, study the menu for the event and get informed of dietary needs. As a server, I must work quickly and efficiently to follow the schedule that has been set for the meals. Interaction with the guests is key in order to gain respect and reduce the barrier between he guest and server. Being a server means staying on top of your tables and anticipating what your guests may need before they ask for it. It is also my job to keep track of all guests and their activities to ensure safety of their self and the rest of the individuals in the building.

As a supervisor, it was my job to ensure my employees on each shift were completing their jobs to the best of their ability and following the proper procedures. I was in charge of opening and closing the store which included the task of counting the cash, dealing with deposits from each night and ensuring that the tills were balanced. My job was also to deal with complaints that any customers had voiced about service or if a mistake was made on their order. By doing this, I gained excellent customer service skills and know how to come to agreements on what to do with the situation. Part of my job was handling any issues that arose within the workplace between other employees, as well as be able to prioritize duties that need to be completed.
