Inspired by visiting the High Museum in Atlanta as a child, I chose to work in museums to advocate for social justice and to effect change. As an accomplished museum and nonprofit professional focused on innovation, I have spent the last 15 years building and engaging diverse membership communities at a series of bold institutions spanning history and the arts. I can pivot from conversations around immigration to contemporary art on a dime and, with years of experience communicating with members, whom I think of as investors in a shared mission, I proactively anticipate needs and understand the power of personal connection. At the Brooklyn Museum, I have been particularly focused on DEIA efforts. In an effort to make membership accessible, I recently launched a more affordable, six-month option, challenging the traditional annual model. More broadly, my interests center around the intersection of DEIA initiatives, philanthropy, and social impact, and I am participating in the community-centric fundraising movement, which seeks to make fundraising and philanthropy more responsive to and reflective of the communities served by foundations and nonprofits. I volunteer my time and expertise as a peer reviewer for the American Alliance of Museums and as the board treasurer for the American Friends of the University of Leicester.
