As a trainer and evaluator, I have an in-depth understanding of specialized adult learner requirements and learning patterns. In my current job as a trainer and social service professional, I design and deliver comprehensive training programs for over 50 public assistance employees. I also on-board new hires, instructing them on navigating and utilizing the State’s web-based benefit delivery program North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST). My work includes collaborating with management in developing customized training in response to error trends, policy changes and audit findings and creating, publishing and disseminating detailed training materials in specific policy areas. I’ve become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on NC FAST and Food & Nutrition Services; I troubleshoot and serve as point of contact for the NC FAST Help Desk in several policy areas. One of my responsibilities involves building, developing and training a high-performance team. I’ve learned that the key to succeeding in this is to empower employees, encouraging interactive and cohesive atmosphere and delivering targeted training as needed to boost knowledge in areas where an employee may be lacking. This is an aspect of my work that I sincerely enjoy; I love connecting with people and learning about them, and it’s incredibly rewarding to watch people grow and achieve their career goals. I’ve spent most of my career in human and social services. My first post-college job was with a county Social Services Agency as a paralegal, and after taking some time off to raise children, returning to the human/social services field felt familiar and comfortable. I’ve also gained significant experience in event planning and coordination, including running day-of activities.
