Profile bio

About Pamela Mcleod

Director of Cybersecurity for a data-driven, global public benefit corporation. I focus on closing security gaps by partnering with business units and IT, assessing risk, and turning no into yes. I bring a focus on maximizing ROI/VOI; a forward-thinking approach combined with deep experience in IAM, IT infrastructure, and IT leadership; project management experience; and a Zero Trust mindset. Strong knowledge of Microsoft / Azure / Entra / Purview tools as well as Google Workspace. My deep background in the education sector drives a focus on positive team culture, empathy, collaboration, professional development, doing more with less, "walking the walk", managing challenging projects with tenacity, and breaking technical topics down to to be easily understood by colleagues. I am forward-looking, with a deep interest in digital transformation, improving business processes, modern work, and AI. I really enjoy leading teams. Much like ogres and onions, cybersecurity has layers.Previously a public-sector technology executive & CISO in a $100M organization, balancing risk management with innovation and leading mid-size enterprise IT environments. I co-founded and co-lead the cooperative NH Student Privacy Alliance to 1300+ SaaS vendor data privacy agreements against a set of NIST 800-171 based security standards, reducing risk for 130,000 of NH’s public school students in just 3 years.I am a “big picture” systems thinker who excels in leading organizational change and uses soft skills along the way - I have transformed and modernized organizations within a few years, focusing on personnel, best practices, best of breed systems, and secure, productive applications. I enjoy working with organizations which have a strong mission, and I give back to my town and my state community with service on my local school board and several statewide professional organizations. Prior to entering the public education sector, I specialized in GIS and ocean mapping for organizations such as Maine Maritime Academy, Radian International, URS Corporation, and the University of New Hampshire Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping.

Listed skills include Educational Technology, Technology Integration, It Management, Educational Leadership, and 25 others.

School Board Member & Chair

Alton School Board Sau #72 & Prospect Mountain Jma Sau #301

Elected member and chair of both Alton School Board and JMA Board (Prospect Mountain High School). Through quiet leadership, consensus, patience, and stakeholder communication, I, along with my colleagues across two towns, have stabilized a formerly divisive community school board - which, in turn, reduced teacher attrition at the elementary school I have served on multiple district negotiations teams, including a new CBA and a pandemic-related MOA; chaired two superintendent search committees; executed an *historic* MOU for sharing central office services between three neighboring districts, resulting in significant operational efficiencies; advised on the restructuring of shared IT services; exploring high school models to include tuition options; oversight of a $16M budget; and COVID-19 decision making. I also enjoy mentoring new board members.

Oct 2017 - Mar 2024

Director Of Technology | Ciso

Concord, New Hampshire, Us

Transformed technology and developed the first cybersecurity / privacy program in a leading public school district having 1000 staff and 4500 students. The first named CISO in the district, I assured compliance with NH’s minimum security standards (derived from NIST 800-171) as well as vendor compliance for data privacy, led cybersecurity audits, and developed the first data governance, incident response, and business continuity plans. I proactively led technology and instructional technology across a 7-school district and regional career technical education program, with emphasis on service leadership, cross-departmental collaboration, and cooperative solutions with multiple school districts. During my tenure, we modernized all aspects of district I.T. to support every function of school district administration, and with the philosophy that a successful user experience begins with solid infrastructure, efficient data/business processes, strong communication, and diversified professional development. In the CSD, my lean team of 8 managed over 6,500 modern Windows 11/iOS/Chrome endpoints, an enterprise network, MS Teams phone system, and physical security (video/access control), maximizing the district's value of investment (VOI). A member of the district cabinet, I led the district’s first comprehensive strategic planning process in 2022, created the district's first technology capital plan, served as the first CISO, modernized replacement cycles for all systems, and developed district priorities and policy. Successfully won grant awards ranging up to $1M.

Co-Founder & Executive Board Member

New Hampshire Cto Council

I co-founded the NH CTO Council in 2014 as the NH affiliate of CoSN.org, executing a vision for a professional organization focusing on the diverse leadership responsibilities of K12 CTOs. These responsibilities include the unique intersection of skillsets across broad areas of Leadership & Vision, Understanding the Educational Environment, and Managing Technology. I helped to lead this fledgling organization to 501 (c) (3) non-profit status as well as managing an annual conference with 100+ attendees, then stepped aside to make room for new leadership. All work on this board is volunteer. NHCTO is now the primary professional organization for K12 technology leaders in NH and serves 80% of the districts in New Hampshire. I served on the Executive Board for many years and continue to co-lead the student privacy alliance efforts.
