In 2018, I rejoined the original founders of SSCI to help grow a new company, Improved Pharma. I'm thrilled to return to my first love, scientific R&D and problem solving. I'm responsible for operational leadership and scientific endeavors. My focus is on solid-state analytical chemistry, synchrotron studies, and legal consulting. My career path has been very enlightening and rewarding. I have the unique experience of having joined a start-up as one of the first employees, then participating in the multiple evolutions going from private to public to private again. During each transition, I was assigned greater responsibility and accountability, and the diversity of my skillset increased with each progression. I joined SSCI as a Ph.D. researcher with a recognized pedigree as a vibrational spectroscopist, and expanded my technical skills in the pharmaceutical industry. After SSCI was purchased by Aptuit, I became the head of Analytical Chemistry, and I worked with my peers to provide cutting-edge services. In 2009, Aptuit established a Lean Six Sigma program, and I was asked to become a black belt. I generated over $2M in savings during my first year. My most unique process improvement project resulted in growing our sales win rate from 33% to 65%. Afterwards, I became the General Manager of SSCI, responsible for Analytical Research, Analytical Technology, Material Science, Particle Engineering, and Preformulation. Using cross-functional leadership, we experienced two record-breaking years in a row. In 2014, I led the site in due diligence activities, resulting in the successful sale of SSCI to AMRI. During SSCI's first year with AMRI, I led the site to another record year. I was then asked to assume responsibility for multiple global locations. These locations included new acquisitions, growing sites, and legacy sites. I successfully engaged with each site, resulting in record performances. Lastly, I'm proud to continue my philanthropic work, serving on the board for the Public Schools Foundation of Tippecanoe County.
