As a visiting assistant professor, my role is to prepare students to become generalist practice social workers as I infuse the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) foundational competencies into the VUSWD curriculum. I hope to bring my expertise and passion for social work into the classroom as examples of professionalism in the field.

Provide for advocacy of assigned consumers through counseling, referrals, and program development.• Develop and implement appropriate instructional plans and activities to meet Individualized Support Plan (ISP) and Individual Prescriptive Plan (IPP) goals and objectives .• Ensure compliance with state, agency, and CARF standards, policies, and procedures.• Supervise staff of ~150 (direct care staff and Support Team).• Responsible for hiring and staff development, “Hire for attitude, train for skill.”• Responsible for intake process for all consumers coming into the Supported Living program.• Responsible for community events, activities and outreach:- Three Year Participant in United Way “Day of Caring”- Two Year Participant in American Cancer Society “Relay for Life”- Participant in Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation “Walk to Cure Diabetes”• Responsible for BSW/MSW Internship Program in developing competencies for practicum experience (2008 – 2013).• Nominated for Porter County Community Foundation “2011 Outstanding Achievements – Outstanding Nonprofit Staff Member”
