In this position I was working as a fermentation engineer and my work was focused on the improvement of the phenotype of bacterial strains through Adaptive Laboratory Evolution (ALE). The evolution is performed in a highly-throughput automated way, using customized liquid handling robotic systems (Tecan Evo and Fluent )My main responsibilities were:• Characterization of bacterial strains.• Run and coordinate ALE experiments.• Perform routine laboratory procedures such as PCR, DNA extraction, media preparation etc.• Operation and maintenance of three liquid handling robot systems.

During my internship at Remedica LTD I worked with removal of pharmaceutical drug residues from machinery surfaces. The main objective was to assess the drug removal efficiency of various detergent formulations in lab conditions and evaluate their applicability in large scale production.
