If you had asked me 15 or 20 years ago if I would ever be working in this industry, I would have laughed! I would have never imagined myself teaching people about the importance of life insurance or retirement planning - I had no clue and certainly my husband and I were behind the 8-ball on all of that! So what changed? Our needs. The reality of the fact that I had left my long and well-paying career as a corporate executive in the marine industry to marry my cute enlisted Coastie and become a military wife and mom, hit us about 10 years ago. We were not ready for retirement - I had nothing saved, my husband had very little in his TSP and IRA and when he left the military, that big life insurance coverage was not coming with us and to boot, we had lost over 60% of our son's college fund in the 2008 crash! We were so overwhelmed. We were not the 2%, so "our guy" of many years didn't care to help us, answer calls or even reach out, even after we drove 3 hours to his office and he wasn't there. To this day, "our guy" never reached out. Something had to change.I thank God for my friend from church that asked me to see how she was helping people. I was so enthralled with what we learned. I was upset that nobody had ever cared to educate us about our options and how money can work more efficiently. So much so, that not only did we become her clients, but I said "how can I learn to teach other people? They need to know." If you were to ask me today, why I love being a Financial Services and Insurance Professional I can tell you, its truly because I care. I have been on the other side of the table where things did not look good, but thank God someone took the time and interest to show us a better way. To educate us and to say "hey, things have changed." Everything else like medicine and technology has changed, why would financial services or insurance stay the same? Times have changed and I feel blessed to be able to relate to people's needs and help them through - because we have been there! My biggest asset is that I did not know everything, but had a hunger to learn and teach others. I'm a real person that will pick up the phone when you call. I look for solutions even when things seem difficult. Whether in Florida, my resident state, or any other state, I'm ready to listen and to help.
