1) Remote Comfort Sensing (RCS 2.0) Backend Platform – Tech Lead for the RCS 2.0 project to build out new features, services and internal traits to integrate the Nest Temperature Sensor with the next generation of Nest Thermostats on Google Home App as part of a key initiative to host all Nest devices on the same infrastructure fabric.o Implemented a multitude of Java-based RESTful services to determine thermostat compatibility during unboxing, generate communication events (pairing/unpairing) through EventChannel, and enable multiple sensor selection for a thermostat.o Responsible for leading a team of 4 engineers, and working with Product, QA, Apps and Devices teams to align on requirements, architect the entire software design and deliver all key project milestones by Q2 2023.2) Google Nest Rush Hour Rewards (RHR Service):o Conceptualized and built a strategic service using Python, Cloud Spanner and REST APIs to enable utility companies to predict sudden spikes in weather-based energy demand and preemptively schedule demand response events on enrolled customers’ thermostats to balance out the power grid load, effectively preventing 25 grid overloads per partner/season on average.o Developed a highly scalable reporting infrastructure service (Virtual Power Plant) using Cloud Pubsub stream processing to curate and deliver daily historical usage and demand response event data (with compliant anonymization), to more than 150 energy partners (15x higher engagement), resulting in revenue growth of USD 6 million.3) Built a Historical Weather ETL Pipeline using Java, Airflow and Google Weather APIs to analyze weather (temp, wind, humidity) attributes from data collected across 10k+ US weather stations, aggregate it across different time window intervals and store it as a centralized dataset in Google BigQuery, to power all weather-related queries from multiple downstream services.
