In this role, I lead teams responsible for building and enhancing Amazon's EMR platform, a highly scalable and fully managed big data processing service that simplifies running open-source analytics frameworks like Apache Spark, Apache Hive, and Apache HBase. I absolutely love my role at Amazon. We have a lot of important work to do and we also know the value of having fun and enjoying the journey together.Prior to joining Amazon, I spent over 20 enjoyable years at Microsoft. I was most recently the Director of Engineering in the Microsoft Surface Division, leading teams focused on Windows Devices, Drivers and Graphics, as well as related technologies. Throughout my time at Microsoft, I developed deep expertise across a wide range of code technologies including USB, UART, Graphics, SPB, WDF, NDIS, Bluetooth, Sensors, Serial, Parallel, and 1394.As a manager, I strive to create an environment where my team can thrive. I believe in empowering my engineers to take ownership of their work, make decisions, and drive continuous improvement. I'm a big proponent of providing clear direction and regular feedback, and I'm always available to offer guidance and support when needed.I am passionate about technical excellence and maintaining a strong focus on my team's needs.
