The new processes helped in achieving the objective to conduct Ab Initio & Advanced Training of Officers and Airmen so that they possess necessary skills for immediate utilisation in the Operational Units.

Dr Pankaj Tyagi has worked as head of a multi-organization system including 800-bed Multi Specialty Command hospital at Chandimandir, where he managed overall operations of seven healthcare entities including Management of Nursing College, Post graduate training of Doctors & managing an Artificial Limb Center. He managed Hospital related yearly funds in the range of $12,000,000. He along with his team conceptualized and implemented a comprehensive care strategy for both the hospitals and faculty through in house strategic and operational changes that led to image make over & huge client satisfaction.

Served as Principal and Head of the Institute of Aerospace Medicine, Bangalore which dealt with training of Doctors, Civil & Military Pilots, other air crew & paramedical staff, under the affiliation with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health sciences. Formulated path breaking Operational training schedules (OPTRAM) for IAF aircrew. Provided Human Engineering support to many aviation projects including cockpit design & Martin Baker Ejection seat compatibility. Provide innovative aero medical solutions in the area of aircrew medical evaluation, High Altitude & Space Physiology, Hyperbaric Medicine, Crew protective clothing, Ejection Seats, Civil Aviation Medicine and guidelines for aircrew on long duration flights.As editor of prestigious Indian Journal of Aerospace Medicine for many years, he was in charge of research under the auspices of Armed Forces Medical Research Committee, Human Engineering Panel of DRDO & Life Sciences Research Panel DRDO. He led the Rapid Action Medical Team of IAF, to reach at the earliest, the interiors of Uri sector during the earthquake in Jammu & Kashmir sector and provided medical relief to affected villages. As Aviation Medicine Specialist, Dr Pankaj Tyagi has represented the Services, in various national and international forums and presented number of thought provoking papers. He has contributed in conceptualizing the aeromedical roadmap of Indian Manned Space Programme and has been able to achieve right synergy with ISRO and other related agencies. He signed the MOU on behalf of IAF with ISRO for Indian Human in Space (HIS) programme.
