Design Engineer
• Independently designed components of next generation GE washers & dryers (Estimated sale of 210,000 units per year).• Compiled data from distribution and marketing to finalize on fundamental requirements of the pack.• Designed over 60 components and performed validation tests concurrently with design of the product. Effectively used CAE tools to optimize material usage and locate potential weak areas. • Provided flexible designs to accommodate changes in product plan, assembly and distribution.• Achieved Cost targets with smart pack design and by utilizing strength of the product.• Performed parametric tests to evaluate effect of each component on the performance of product. • Worked with suppliers to develop and qualify new parts on an aggressive schedule. Efficiently used 3D CAD tools and prototype machines to validate fit and finish. • Demonstrated problem solving ability by working on multiple projects and change notices for quality improvements. Directed and communicated design concepts to offshore team to release 3D models and drawings with GD&T.• Designed components through New Product Introduction (NPI) process, performed Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) on critical components, tested capabilities at severe operating environment and documented results using GE Failure Reporting and Cause Analysis System. • Embraced lean six sigma technology throughout product life cycle. GE Green Belt certification is in process.• Gained hands-on experience of assembly process by operating on assembly line during pre-pilot builds. Assisted production team in the process of creating and updating assembly line work instructions and Quality Control Instructions (QCI).
Graduate Research Assistant
• Designed and Developed Fretting Wear Test Rig for fretting wear tests at high temperatures.• The rig was optimally designed to test on several setups like rod-on-rod, flat-on-flat and ball-on-flat types of surface contacts with minimal alterations. • Fretting wear phenomena is being studied for coated materials to experimentally investigate effects of various parameters like displacement amplitude, contact pressure, frequency, surface roughness, etc.• The goal of the research is to develop combined fretting wear maps for uncoated, nitrided and coated specimens at ambient and elevated temperatures along with in-situ observation of the wear phenomena.• This investigation of fretting wear phenomena is patronized by Siemens for steam turbine applications and by Rolls Royce for Lift fan application.
Project Engineer
• Designed components of high duty vehicles and fabricated sheet metal enclosures for electronic modules.• Analyzed thermal and structural behavior of the electronic modules using ABAQUS and Icepack.• Supervised manufacturing of prototypes and coordinated amendments in design for large scale production.• Reviewed and interpreted customer specifications and deliverables.• Implemented the Product Lifecycle Management system to generate and release project documents.• Involved in problem solving of the Product Lifecycle Management system.• Trained two draftsmen to generate machine drawings in 3D environment using GD&T.
Intern
• Contributed significantly in transformation process of production drawings from 2D to 3D CAD tools.• Analyzed and presented performance data of the high duty vehicles.
