My day-to-day responsibilities include providing photos, composites and/or other visual elements for any breaking news or headlines dominating the news cycle. Working closely with producers and editors to strengthen the reporting with powerful images and composites that add to the storytelling.

Greater New York City Area

Led the photo desk regularly, made sure the news desk had everything needed to set stories live. Part of my duties included researching + retrieving photos as needed for stories published on dailymail.com; building composites, graphs, maps etc. to visually strengthen the storytelling; tracking and identifying compelling photos on wires and social media as news breaks and sorting through archives for additional needs; working with reporters to best highlight the stories through striking images and engaging composites

Oxford, Mississippi

As a documentary fellow at the SFA, I produced a short documentary about a Taco shop located in Oxford, Mississippi. Run by a man of Mexican heritage, the Taco Shop has been serving tacos to Oxford residents for almost 20 years at what is considered by a number of locals "the most integrated space" in this historic Southern city where values of Confederacy still hold strong, as evident from the Confederate flags, stickers and monuments visible inside and on the outskirts of the city.I intend to explore the aspects of the Latino food culture and how it shapes families and communities in the region, the challenges of running a business rooted in the Mexican culture in a historic Southern city and whether food may be the one factor that bridges the gap between different cultures here, especially in the current political rhetoric in the United States.

Traveled to Philadelphia and Cleveland in the summer of 2016 to cover the Democratic and Republican national conventions and produced and edited photo galleries for the BUNS website.Researched and assigned photographers to cover major events and breaking news in Greater Boston area, which included the co-ordination of coverage of the 2015 and photographing the 2016 Boston marathons, co-ordinated the 2014 mid-term elections coverage in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and an extensive coverage of the events around death of the beloved mayor of Boston, Thomas M. Menino.Had final oversight on the multimedia content on BUNS and edited and uploaded photographs to BUNS website and maintained an archive on SmugMug.Responsibilities also included archiving and maintaining the BUNS SmugMug account where all the contributors submitted their photographs and I oversaw the editing and publication of the submissions.

Com Writing Center

As a writing fellow, my responsibilities included assisting clients - undergraduate and graduate students from across the university - with any problems they stumbled onto during the process of writing an academic paper or other informal writings. From discussing ideas and thesis to formulating outlines to examining and fixing structure and grammar issues and addressing any concerns the students put forth, I worked with the clients to identify the weaknesses and the strengths of their writing process and made suggestions to improve their writing skills.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

As a part of the fellowship, I produced a series of stories on the impacts of mass migration on one particular village in Nepal from where more than 80 percent of the young adults have migrated elsewhere, mostly to the Gulf countries, in search of employment and financial security. Trinidad, Colo.

As a full time reporter/photographer at the daily, my primary responsibilities included producing two to three stories everyday for publication. Throughout the year, I covered many beats, including crimes, government, city desks and education. I also covered the Las Animas County government at large as well as any breaking news and major incidents, such as the Pipleline Fire, the local Colorado elections in 2013 and issues related to the Trinidad School District among other events.I also produced general assignment news stories of everyday events, profiles and features and created photo stories, including news, features and sports throughout the year.

Lake Charles, Louisiana Area

As a reporter and a photographer at the Contraband, the university's newspaper, and the LOG, the university's yearbook, my responsibilities included in depth reporting on all aspects of the university - breaking news, general assignments, features, sports - basically anything related to McNeese that was news.I also extensively covered McNeese Athletics, including football, basketball and baseball, as a photographer for more than two years and was responsible for editing and creating photo packages, captioning them and getting them ready for publication.I also helped the design team with the layout of the paper and the yearbook during my time at the publication.

Lake Charles, Louisiana Area

As an intern, I was assigned to different events across the city and outside and covered breaking news and produced photographs for general and spot news, various beats, features and sports in the Lake Area, including McNeese Athletics and the area high school athletics; helped to edit photographs and readied them for publication; assisted senior journalists on-field with photo and video packages during my time as an intern and beyond that.
