About Pankaj Khadka
While my birth home is Kathmandu, Nepal where I lived the first 18 years of my life, I have spent the last 13 years in the United States going where the stories take me. Between the swamps of Louisiana, the Rockies of Colorado, the highways of Dallas, the nor'easters of Boston and the chaotic mindfulness of New York, I am yet to plant my roots in the country that has morphed me from a teenager to a semi-functioning man.As a multimedia journalist, I aspire to tell stories of subjects and issues that engage and challenge my thoughts and beliefs through a combination of text stories, captivating photographs and incorporation of multimedia.Upon completion of Masters in Journalism at Boston University, I recently moved to New York where I am working on a personal project and in pursuit of professional opportunities in New York. With almost eight years of learning how to become a journalist and working in various capacities in the shape-shifting media industry, I believe I have acquired the necessary skill-set to produce detailed text and compelling photo stories and engaging video narratives to do justice to subjects who allow me to share their stories.
Listed skills include Journalism, Editing, Writing, Newspapers, and 28 others.

Documentary Fellow
As a documentary fellow at the SFA, I produced a short documentary about a Taco shop located in Oxford, Mississippi. Run by a man of Mexican heritage, the Taco Shop has been serving tacos to Oxford residents for almost 20 years at what is considered by a number of locals "the most integrated space" in this historic Southern city where values of Confederacy still hold strong, as evident from the Confederate flags, stickers and monuments visible inside and on the outskirts of the city.I intend to explore the aspects of the Latino food culture and how it shapes families and communities in the region, the challenges of running a business rooted in the Mexican culture in a historic Southern city and whether food may be the one factor that bridges the gap between different cultures here, especially in the current political rhetoric in the United States.
