Technical Director of Wind Tower Technologies/Aero Wireless Group/Comptek, and Professor Emeritus of the Colorado School of Mines.As Technical Director at WTT/Aero/Comptek, Panos leads the development and structural design of very tall wind turbine towers and their foundations. He also leads the structural design of small cell CityPole, the structural and foundation upgrade of telecommunications towers, etc. Before joining WTT/Aero, Panos was a tenured professor of Structural engineering for 19 years at the Colorado School of Mines and, before that he was a tenured professor of Geotechnical Engineering for 14 years at The University of Arizona. Panos has over 35 years of experience in modeling, analysis, and design of integrated nonlinear soil-structure systems under static and dynamic loads, and has authored more than 80 technical papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings on finite element methods of analysis, elastoplastic behavior of materials, geotechnical modeling, structural controls, concrete materials, FRP reinforced structures, and dynamic soil-structure interaction. He has served as an Engineering consultant with Tetra Tech in mines infrastructure, P4P in solar energy structures, Dow Aksa in the rehabilitation of concrete structures using fiber reinforced plastics, DOWL in bridge design, and others.Panos was the lead design and production engineer on the design of WTT’s Adams County precast concrete tower. He is also the lead design engineer of WTT's 300+ precast wind turbine towers in China, ranging in hub-height from 120m to 140m. In addition to his design activities, he leads WTT’s fatigue analysis team that works with developers to solve re-powering solutions on existing wind towers in service under new turbine loadings and life cycle analysis.
