After completing a PhD at Caltech, I contributed to several R&D efforts, initially as a member of technical staff, subsequently as a manager, and currently as the principal of oeworks, the technical consultancy I founded. I am equally comfortable developing analytical models, writing code for data analysis and visualization, and assembling and debugging automated tools, screwdriver in hand, in a laboratory or on a production line. I have consistently generated new concepts, prototyped them quickly and cost-effectively, and transferred the resulting technology to production. In addition to technical work, I have assembled and led teams, managed projects with ambitious technical deliverables, and aligned technical work to business objectives, while capturing the most value from the technology developed. I have significant experience and a strong track-record in both generating and evaluating intellectual property. I have negotiated contracts and agreements, managed vendors, and set up supply chains. I have made presentations to both technical and business audiences, and have generated compelling communications that informed business and financing decisions. I have contributed to business planning and development, and have established and ran a business.I enjoy solving technical problems, preferably of significant scale and/or impact, and converting technical innovation to tangible, valuable outcomes. To that end, I am always looking for opportunities to explore new fields and acquire new skills.
