I am a devops engineer in the SAP Cloud Platform Core Area. Some of my responsibilities include:• integrating Cloud Foundry and the monitoring stack on four different IaaS (OpenStack, AWS, Azure and GCP)• operating Cloud Foundry and the monitoring stack (Riemann, Influxdb and Grafana) on SAP internal landscape (based on AWS, thousands of active users and hundreds of services)• developing a tool for managing the integration between the SAP Cloud Platform product and the multiple IaaS.Since April 2018 I am also the Scrum Master of the team.

I worked for the Batch Experts, the team responsible for managing the CERN’s Batch Farm (~6180 virtual machines). My main task was to design and develop a framework for improving the maintainability, security and availability of the Batch Farm. The framework, developed in Python, had to interact with different components like HTCondor, IBM LSF, Openstack, Puppet and Foreman.

This internship was a collaboration between the University of Milan and the Telecom Italia Group Research Center. My contributions can be summarized as follow:• I designed a cloud-based architecture, based on OpenStack, for an industrial environment which could support both elastic and automatic scaling• I evaluated the performance of the system when this was forced to scale horizontally and/or vertically.
