Developed qualitative research design, conducted interviews with project-affected residents according to IRB standards, and gathered data during summer 2014 in Kenya. In preparation for field research, learned Swahili, reviewed literature 20 hours a week on theories of power, theories of organization, theories of sustainability and ecological resiliency, as well as legislation affecting state-driven development interventions in Kenya and internationally. Awarded CURO Summer Fellowship in 2014 for field research expenses and presented preliminary findings in the Summer Symposium July 2014 in Athens, GA.
