Launched in the wake of the tragic Parkland shooting as a way to give back to the community, Bark for Schools is available for all public and private K-12 schools in the U.S.

Developed a training video for the PNNL Crisis Communications Team in collaboration with contractor, assisted in annual evacuation drills, audited emergency preparedness standards in buildings, collaborated with engineers and chemists in assessing the NFPA health risk of the 1,059 distinct liquid chemicals in PNNL labs, assisted ecologists in measuring lead-arsenic soil levels and GIS mapping, assisted ecologists and biologists in noxious weed control, and synthesized public comments received for a regional NEPA dam project for supervisors.

Supporting the Environmental Safety Division, ensured University of Georgia's (UGA) fire extinguishers were up-to-date by inspecting them monthly, guiding the annual inspectors through buildings, and entering fire extinguisher data into Chematix. Took the initiative in alerting the IT department on system bugs and formatting to update the inspection system for the betterment of future workers and accuracy of future compliance reports.

Under project supervisor Dr. K. Chad Clay, became familiar with background literature and operational definitions of state-led repression, and coded raw data for different types of repression.

“State-driven Development Initiatives under Kenya’s Vision 2030 and Perceptions by Project-Affected Persons in the Northern Rangelands.”Under mentorship of Dr. Laura German (Anthropology) and in support of project supervisor Dr. Elizabeth King (Ecology) examined the effects, awareness, and perceptions of state-driven development projects in the arid northern rangelands of Kenya, culminating in a paper and PowerPoint presentation at the 2015 CURO Symposium in Athens, GA. Developed qualitative research design, conducted interviews with project-affected residents according to IRB standards, and gathered data during summer 2014 in Kenya. In preparation for field research, learned Swahili, reviewed literature 20 hours a week on theories of power, theories of organization, theories of sustainability and ecological resiliency, as well as legislation affecting state-driven development interventions in Kenya and internationally. Awarded CURO Summer Fellowship in 2014 for field research expenses and presented preliminary findings in the Summer Symposium July 2014 in Athens, GA.

Supported and shadowed the team as their first high school intern while conducting preliminary research in support of the following initiatives during the scoping phase: Community for Zero Hunger, Partnership for Play, and HarvestPlus. In this role, research subjects included food security (including agriculture and aquaculture), developmental cognitive and physical health (as related to child’s play/sport), and current state- and non-state actors in those fields. Shadowed events in policy-specific sectors, including Dr. Rohana Subasinghe's presentation on aquaculture at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and FoodPolicy.us, and NYU DC's panel on proposed reforms to U.S. food aid.

Updated and translated the georgialatinovote.com website as their first high school student to serve as intern. Invited to participate and photograph major regional and state conferences, including the first-ever “Southeastern Summit: Forging a New Consensus on Immigrants and America.” Served as a blogger, conducted calls to action, and registered eligible Latinos to vote during community outreach events in Georgia.
