My work as an electrician started in Edmonton AB with Langford Electric, where I first worked in their office assisting with project management. I began apprenticing with them to better learn about the projects I would be working on. After the company closed its doors I continued with my electrical apprenticeship. Working in commercial and industrial settings as an electrician I have done installation and commissioning of a wide variety of electrical system components.Companies I worked for were: Langford Electric, Twincor Electric, Delco Automation, Tarpon, URS, Worley Parsons Cord, and Canem SystemsWith these companies I performed the following duties: running conduit of varying sizes; sizing and pulling wire of many types and gauges; installation and wiring of transformers, MCC, ATS, motors, HVAC / RTU, breaker panels, meters, lighting, receptacles, fire alarm, heat trace systems, instruments, PLC and security systems, cable tray, support structures, grounding and bonding; commissioning of HMI integrated security systems and heat trace controller systems; interpret electrical drawings; plan materials and installations; guide other apprentices

Between the time that I took leave from engineering to when I resumed my path working in the electrical industry, I worked for nine semesters as a high school math and science teacher in Torreón, México at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, a top private school system. Prior to leaving for teaching in January of 2004, I spent 2 years volunteering with PALS (Project Adult Literacy Society) Edmonton and singing in the University of Alberta Mixed Chorus.I also worked on a five month contract in 2010 for the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers where I was part of development of new curriculum for the Engineers' and Technologists' Integration Program (ETIP), a program designed to help newcomers to Canada practice workplace specific English skills and update their technical qualifications.
