Colleagues describe him as "I have known Dr. Pardeep Kumar (also called Pradeep Kumar) from April 2012 when I employed him to join my research group as a post-doctoral fellow in the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC), University of Oulu, Finland. He worked for the CWC from 9th April 2012 to 31st August 2015. As a Professor, I am up-to-date on his position of excellence. I must say with conviction that Dr. Kumar has been my best post-doctoral fellow in the CWC. He has been a very valued colleague who sincerely cares about others. Dr. Kumar showed the best performance during his stay in the CWC. He is able to carry out individual work items efficiently and deliver high-level results. Pardeep has conducted research for several scientific projects, e.g., MAMMOTH, Train Wireless Bus, Naked Approach, and CONVINcE. He designed and implemented network security protocols, especially for smart environments, vehicular networks, Internet of things, wireless sensor networks, and smart grid networks. His recent contribution is also noteworthy, where he has produced research results with the theoretical models and simulated authentication architecture for smart grid networks. He has keen analytical skills and a strong passion for understanding security protocols, particularly authentication, integrity and confidentiality, and anonymity. He also had been recognized as an Inventor in the CWC, University of Oulu. During the last 5 years, Dr. Pardeep has published 11 international journals (including IEEE), 1 book chapter, 9 international conferences, and 2 IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) drafts. In general, Dr. Kumar has demonstrated an outstanding performance in his work, and shown quick self-learning curve in new technologies and working with analytical and simulation tools.   Regarding Dr. Kumar’s relationship with colleagues, he has been well-respected colleague as a senior fellow in my research group. One of his strongest qualities is high ability to move with the group and being friendly attitude, which makes him a very pleasant to work with. He has professional communication skills. He proved himself to be a capable mentor and teacher. He supervised three MS thesis (one as the main supervisor and two as co-supervisor). He is clearly able to transmit his passion and talent for research to the MS and PhD students. In my group at CWC, Dr. Kumar had made several other contributions, for instance, project management, led project tasks, prepared new project proposals (for Horizon 2020, EU-level: CelticPlus, and ITEA 3 ), and more importantly, kept all (project) documentation up to date. He handled responsibility well, timely, and took initiative to manage the research projects. Dr. Pardeep’s calm and quiet wisdom will be an asset to any institution he works for.
