Operates a three-screen police dispatch console, telephone equipment, VESTA to receive and process calls.Receives incoming non-emergency 3-1-1 calls from the public requesting assistance or Police reports for various situations. Receives incoming emergency 9-1-1 calls from persons requesting public safety services or assistance.Solicits descriptive information to determine the nature of the request, the gravity, and location of the incident (including potential threats, risks or hazards that responding police units may encounter).Works independently in interviewing the caller to accurately assess the urgency of the incident and the proper response required by Fire, Police and/or Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Processes calls involving non-English speaking, excited, or suicidal individuals.Enters incident or service request information using a computer console via Police Computer Aided Dispatch (PCAD) software.Searches for information via Law Enforcement Agency Data System (LEADS). Generates police reports for citizens for all applicable non-emergency calls.Forwards events to Police Communications Operators II for dispatching.Fast-forwards requests for fire and emergency medical services to fire dispatch operations.Maintains confidentiality of events serviced / information solicited.
