This PhD was a collaborative effort between the Staal lab and Batavia Biosciences. The primary focus during my PhD has been on enhancing HSC-based lentiviral gene therapy, with the following key objectives:• Actively led cell line generation project with our collaborators at Batavia Biosciences • Improved Lentiviral transduction efficiency and CRISPR-cas9 gene editing in hematopoietic stem cells for gene therapy purposes• Pioneered the establishment of serum free medium using small molecules for ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic stem cells to improve gene therapy outcome• Conducted rigorous in vivo tests to ensure the efficacy and safety of gene therapy product• Supervised and trained students and technicians to achieve our research goals• Prepared and presented scientific reports and posters at both academic and industrial settings

• Gained industry experience by contributing to upstream processing team • Worked on optimization of large-scale production of viruses, cell line generation, process development to increase Virus production• Collaborated with team members and DSP and Assay team to achieve the project goal • Actively involved in technical and scientific writing, preparing study plans and SOPs.

• Gained experience in Biobanking of DNA and blood samples• Managed Patient’s data through internal hospital management software
