Working with the medical staff at MECyC, I shadowed many healthcare professionals and observed complex research as well as multifaceted clinical practices. After learning their specific processes, I contributed to research and analysis of the effectiveness of neurological rehabilitation on atherosclerosis, strokes, and migraines.Using many database tools, I organized and used statistical analysis to evaluate compiled, integral data, and aided in ongoing, consistent clinical investigations. While working in this position, I was given the opportunity to support a special project for affiliate, Biomakers, and contributed to initiatives related to genetic and molecular studies of cancer and other complex diseases.

As with MECyC, I shadowed and mentored with medical staff and assisted research. The analytics processed in this role were related to learning and memory, reward, and self-regulation in substance using adolescents. Using robust communication and persuasive aptitudes, I spearheaded fMRI stimulus presentation scheduling and delivered effective participant recruitment, telephone interviewing/screening, and demonstrated sound judgment.Aiding with many directives within the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, I conducted pediatric and adult neuropsychiatric and behavioral assessments. Utilizing EMR databases and reports, I processed data and organized results reported, contributed to the composition of multiple manuscripts and co-authored a manuscript published in the journal of adolescent psychiatry. Using the skills and procedural fluency I attained researching and processing data, I was able to contribute to determining clinical and reporting best practices that improved overall data management efficiency.

I directly supported research related to learning and memory in rats and performed various methods of behavioral testing, cannulation surgery, and drug administration. I processed and managed many facets of statistical analytics and the processes related to documenting, reporting, and creating technical documents for management and stakeholders. I successfully completed this Project independently, working only under a mentor. I contributed to the gathering of data acquired to compose a manuscript for my thesis, poster presentation, and abstract. Furthermore, the research and investigation that I completed has continued to be utilized in more clinical and research findings.

In this interesting role, I was able to learn processes, regulations, and client support systems related to operating room practices, specifically neurosurgical treatments for patients diagnosed with movement disorders, intractable pain, and hydrocephalus. I learned vital office procedures and assisted with research on gene therapy and molecular neurobiology.

In this internship, I performed complex brain health assessments and learned in-depth processes related to clinical patient processing. Using set targets and data research missions, I researched biological causes of menopause and its effects on health and cognition.

As you’ll see, this role is completely different than others! I am very interested in being cross-functional in many industries and roles and I have proactively taken part in many new learning opportunities. Working with Carolina Herrera allowed me to contribute to processes during photo shoots and runway shows which gave me first hand insight on skills needed to flourish within the fashion and PR industry. I used my outgoing personality to cultivate client relationships and update all media databases with vital client project and correspondence information. Using my inquisitive and innate research skills, I conducted industry research and delivered relevant media and creative improvements, aiding in new business development.
